I have throw rugs on top of carpet. The rug buckles up and it's hard to smooth the wrinkles out.

I have purchased wool rugs which I really like but they have an odour and we have stepped on prickly objects that, when searched for, turn out to be similar to twigs (approx. an inch or more in length) or seeds woven into the wool. The rugs come from a very reputable rug importer that operates in the United States as well as Canada so I'm somewhat surprised at what appears to be poor quality and am considering returning them. Will I find this with all 100% wool handmade rugs? Does cleaning them make any difference?

i have my own horses but i only have 3 rugs for each of them : turnout, cooler and stable. iv ecently been looking for new coolers on a website but i saw lots of different ones like travel rugs, fly sheets florecent exersize sheets etc. should i be buying all these or are they just different names for the ones i have allready?

We're about to move into a small one-storey house with painted concrete floors that are heated with hot-water radiant heat. We want to buy a number of area rugs but wonder what type of rug will not hamper the transmission of heat from the floor. Thanks.

I just moved and I have beautiful new carpeting. I already make people leave their shoes at the door. I also heard too much shampooing attracts more dirt. How often should I shampoo my rugs? Thanks all so much for your input. There are no best answers as they all are good. I do keep socks on and will encourage guests to do the same. I am concerned that using the commonly available tapes will damage the underlying carpet. Specifically, if I used carpet tape to attach my rugs to my carpet, if I decide to remove the rugs and tape will my under carpet not be damaged? I appreciate any ideas. Thanks! I have young children and inexpensive area rugs. I plan to move in a year, and I want to keep my rugs until then. But, they've been spilled on, peed on, and who knows what else. How can I get them clean without spending more than they're worth?

I don't have one of those vacum things that shampoo rugs,nor can I afford someone to come in and do it, so how would I go about washing these? should I just take them outside and rinse them down with a hose? If I did this how long would it take for them to dry? one rug is a big one we put in the middle of the living room. the others are the kinds that have some rubber like stuff on the underside but carpet on the top. any suggestions?

I have a dog that is past the teething stage. And she keeps chewing on all of my huge area rugs. We have bought her several chew toys (which she does chew on) and even those kong toys that challenge the dog to get at the food (because we were told boredom may be the cause of her chewing), but still she chews on our rugs. I was told that if I catch her doing it ---to say 'No' and then give her a chew toy so she understands---but she NEVER chews on the rugs when I am watching. I really want to keep my rugs out (we tried putting the rugs away for awhile) because the house is all hardwood floors and is cold in the winter without rugs and I LOVE my rugs. She just ruined a new rug yesterday---she chewed a huge hole in the middle of the rug. She is a good dog otherwise, we bring her to obedience classes and everything. What can I do about my rugs?? PLEASE HELP!!

I installed wood floors for the dogs. It makes for easy clean up of accidents. However I did not think ahead to the dogs comfort of play. They slid on wood DUH! So I put down multiple area rugs. I have no slip pads double taped to the underside but they roll up, peel off and slide if the dogs don't specificly hit the area that the pad is under. I've looked online for something that will guarantee the rugs to stay in place and maybe cut down on noise but they are crazy expensive. My husband wanted to double side tape them directly to the floor but that will ruin the floor. Because we have to be able to regularly remove the rugs to clean underneath them as well as the rugs themselves because if it's not an accident they are tracking mud in. Please help.
