In several schools and colleges, there are clocks in the hallways and on both sides of a clock unit the time is exactly the same. The position of the second hand is even the same. How is it possible for all of these clocks in each hallway to exactly have the same time and seconds?

I mean, they did have clocks, but from my personal experience, mechanical clocks do run slow at some point. What happened when a clock stopped in the past? How did they set it back if they didn't know the time? No computers, no atomic clocks, how did people get accurate time just using mechanical clocks? I just wondered, after looking at an old pendulum clock that is a bit slow...

I have noticed that many clocks in colonial times had eagles as findings. I am very curious to find out if there was a reason for that?

With the end of daylight saving time in the United States (and elsewhere), my atomic clocks reset themselves back to standard time. My question is does the clock do this because of some programming in the clock itself, or is it because of the signal broadcast by NIST? The reason that I'm wondering is because the start and end dates for daylight saving time will change beginning next year, and I'm wondering if the atomic clocks will give the right time unadjusted. On most clocks: If the hands are at midday/midnight the hour hand covers the hours hand - though, how many others times are there where they are actually one above the other? An example would be 6:30 though it isn't in any watch or clock. Good luck!

My husband is a police officer and we are having trouble finding a reliable alarm clock. He works usually 12-16hr shifts. He has trouble waking up to the standard noise and it is often not loud enough. Does anyone know of any high-end or just reallyyyyy good alarm clocks?
